Dr. Kent is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological conditions that coincide with chronic pain, acquired brain injuries, physical disability, and prolonged medical conditions. Dr. Kent is an expert in the application of evidence based treatments. These include Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Rational-Emotive Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help his patients cope with their conditions, and facilitate them to lead full, healthy, and happy, lives.
Dr. Kent is also an expert in psychological and neuropsychological assessment. He routinely performs comprehensive evaluations for spinal stimulator evaluations, clearance for bariatric surgery, capacity for consent of medical treatment, confirmation of differential psychiatric diagnoses, and identification cognitive/neuropsychological issues resulting from acquired brain injury or other neurological issues.
Dr. Kent earned his doctorate of psychology from St. John’s University. He completed his clinical internship at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where he specialized in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. Dr. Kent completed his post-doctoral training at AHRC, where he gained specialized training in the assessment and treatment of patients with chronic neurological, cognitive, and developmental impairments. Prior to joining CSP, Dr. Kent served as a staff psychologist at Nassau University Medical Center’s Federally Qualified Health Center where he functioned as liaison for behavioral health service within primary medical services.
Dr. Kent is a visiting scientist at the Feinstein Institute of Northwell Health. He is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and APA’s Division on Rehabilitation Psychology. He is also an active member of the New York State Psychological Association.
