Dr. David Kim is an interventional pain medicine physician and anesthesiologist. Dr. Kim is committed to an ethical and compassionate approach tailored to each patient as an individual, not just a diagnosis. With this calling in mind, Dr. Kim brings a wide variety of experience and treatment options, ranging from the most conservative to advanced techniques.
Dr. Kim graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with both a Bachelors and Masters degree and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He subsequently attended Washington University School of Medicine. His clinical training included a general surgery internship and anesthesiology residency at Rush University Medical Center where he was awarded on graduation with the Selmeczi and Stokes memorial award for humanism, devotion, and work ethic. Dr. Kim completed a pain medicine fellowship at Kansas University Medical Center, one of the most selective positions in the country with unparalleled training in complex patient management and advanced pain medicine techniques.
With a wide variety and depth of training, Dr. Kim is particularly focused on collaboration with other fields and a holistic treatment perspective. This is well suited for complex and refractory pain requiring a comprehensive and detailed approach. He is capable of applying the best cutting edge and evidence-based medicine to a wide variety of clinical problems in the domains of headache, spine, nerve, cancer, and abdominal-pelvic pain. To provide this, he can offer advanced modalities such as spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal medication pumps, spinal augmentation, and stem cell therapy.
Advancing the field and awareness of the future are part of providing excellent patient care. Dr. Kim has published extensively in realms of basic science, translational work, and clinical research with regards to pain medicine and neurobiology. Additionally, Dr. Kim has a deep commitment to education, which is continued by fellow preceptorship in The Manhattan Pain Fellowship. Dr. Kim is also a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, The American Society of Regional Anesthesia, and North American Neuromodulation Society.
